Experience and Responsibilities

Alexander is a Certified Public Accountant with over twenty years of public accounting experience with include, the last fifteen years as a partner at Alexander W. Cruden & Co.  He previously worked at two other public accounting firms in the Albany area and has taught accounting at Siena College.

Alex is responsible for the firm's day to day operations including client services, quality control, firm administration and staff hiring and development.

Aanen is a Certified Public Accountant with over forty years of public accounting experience which include 35 years as a partner in Nelsen & Nelsen, CPA’s and 5 years as a self-employed practitioner. Aanen joined Alexander W. Cruden & Co. in January 2017.

Jeffrey is a Certified Public Accountant who joined Alexander W. Cruden & Co. in November of 2007 as a staff accountant.

Jeffrey’s primary responsibilities include work on various audit, review and compilation engagements.  He also assists in tax preparation of individual, trust, partnership and corporate tax returns, and not-for-profit information returns.

Interests outside of work include traveling, spending time with family and friends, attending sporting events, and motor sports.

Experience and Responsibilities

Frank May joined Alexander W. Cruden & Co. in August 2005 as a staff assistant.

Frank assists in the preparation of individual and trust tax returns, client assistance with daily activities, and various business filings. His  responsibilities include collection and analysis of internal data needed in the management of the firm. He also works on utilizing the Internet for client communication and document delivery, and is involved with the firm’s project management system.

His previous experience includes product development and marketing at the IBM Corporation.

Interests outside of work include enjoying the music and cultural attractions of the capital district and Berkshires, all-too-infrequent sailing and canoeing outings, volunteer work for AARP TaxAide, and the time he gets to spend with his wife, children, and friends.

Experience and Responsibilities

Alexander Cruden is a highly respected member of the community. He is a 40+ year member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a member of New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Mr. Cruden’s responsibilities also include overseeing of the firms computer network and software used to promote efficiency and improved quality of service to firm clients. He is responsible for the purchasing and upgrading of all firm computer hardware.

His areas of expertise include many industries such as automotive, broadcasting, retail , manufacturing, not-for-profit organizations and harness racing.

Mr. Cruden’s focus was to provide clients with overall business consulting services in many areas including tax planning and compliance, business merger and expansion, governmental services, bank financing, and compensation issues. He has worked with many firm clients for long periods of time, in some instances for more that thirty years.

Mr. Cruden is a professor of Accounting, Emeritus at Siena College where he taught various tax, accounting and computer courses from 1963 with his retirement from teaching in 1995.

His areas of expertise include audit services, ability to analyze complicated tax and accounting matters. Al has extensive knowledge of the Internal Revenue code which he has used to benefit many clients of the firm.

Alexander W. Cruden Jr. started Alexander W. Cruden & Co. in 1982. Mr. Cruden holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from Siena College in Loudonville, New York. Mr. Cruden began his accounting career at Walquist and Renodin, CPAs in Albany, New York. He was named Partner in that firm in 1978.
